Frequently Asked Questions

For most trades, yes. Six inches clears the ankle bone, gives lateral support on uneven footing, and keeps ordinary debris out. You need more height when you stand in water or deep mud, work around sparks, or spend the day on genuinely broken ground. See our Georgia 8 inch range.

Start from the sole. The Amp Lightweight Wedge and the classic Wedge are flat-soled, built for concrete and finished floors. The Eagle One, Muddog and Giant are conventional lugged work boots for mixed and outdoor ground. Carbon Flex and Core 37 sit in between with lighter builds. The sole decides comfort more than the height does.

Georgia's carbon-fiber safety toe. Carbon is the lightest rated cap material available and meets the same ASTM F2413 impact and compression standard as steel, while being non-metallic so it does not conduct heat or cold. Note a non-metallic cap alone does not make a boot metal-detector safe, since the shank is a separate component.

Many are, and waterproof status is stated in every product title. A waterproof boot only protects to its collar, so if you stand in water deeper than six inches the membrane does nothing and you need a taller boot. See our Georgia waterproof range.

Georgia's cushioned insole system, built to reduce fatigue over a long shift on hard ground. It appears across much of the range. Cushioning helps with impact, but arch support and a removable footbed matter as much if you have foot problems, and some cushioned boots are weaker on those.

Full-grain leather with an additional treatment that resists chemicals commonly found on farms, including sulfuric acid and caustic potash. It is a genuine advantage for agricultural work, where ordinary leather degrades from contact with fertilizers and cleaning agents. See our farm boots range.

Yes, in steel, composite, alloy and carbon on the rated models, all meeting ASTM F2413 for impact and compression, alongside soft toe options. Toe type is stated in every product title. See our Georgia safety toe range.

The lighter builds like the Amp Lightweight and Carbon Flex are comfortable within a few shifts. The heavier full-grain models take one to three weeks while the leather softens. Wear them in shorter stretches over the first week. What break-in cannot fix is a boot that is the wrong length or width.
