Hunting footwear splits by how you actually hunt. Sitting a stand in November is a different problem from walking uplands in October, and both are different from working through snake country in August. The boot that solves one will let you down in the others. This collection covers the full hunt range at Overlook Boots for men and women, from Danner, LaCrosse, Rocky, and Chippewa.

Rubber Hunt Boots

Rubber sheds water and mud completely and holds less scent than leather, which is why it dominates whitetail hunting and any season spent in flooded timber or marsh. The LaCrosse Alphaburly Pro at 18 inches is the model most hunters settle on, offered uninsulated and in 400G and 800G insulated versions, in Mossy Oak and Realtree patterns. Rocky's Outback brings a GORE-TEX wellington into the same territory. See the full rubber hunt boot range for more.

Snake Boots

A large share of this collection is snake protection, built on a tall shaft with bite-resistant material wrapping the lower leg. Danner's Sharptail and San Angelo, LaCrosse's Snake Country, Rocky's Retraction and Lynx, and Chippewa's Descaro, Brome, and Cross Terrain all run 16 inches or taller. Chippewa's Sunjo and Cottonwood cover the same ground for women at 15 inches. Side and rear zippers appear on several models, which matters because a boot this tall is slow to get on and off without one. The wider snake proof boot selection includes work-oriented models as well.

Insulation

Insulation is rated in grams, and more is not automatically better. Uninsulated and 400G models suit early season and any hunt where you are covering ground, because a boot that is too warm leaves you damp and then cold. From 800G to 1000G is the stand-hunting range, and 2000G, which the LaCrosse Cold Snap II carries, is for sitting still in genuine cold. Match the number to how much you move, not to the forecast alone. The insulated hunt boot collection groups these together.

Waterproofing and Camo

Nearly everything here is waterproof, with GORE-TEX on Rocky's BearClaw and Outback. Camo runs to Mossy Oak and Realtree patterns across Rocky, Danner, and LaCrosse, while plain brown leather stays the default for upland and general-purpose hunting. Danner's Grouse is USA made.

Men's and Women's

This page carries the whole range. For a narrower starting point, see men's hunting boots or women's hunt boots.
