A boot can carry a safety toe with no Mt rating at all; the two are separate tests.

Is the Banksman waterproof?

Yes. It uses a GORE-TEX® breathable waterproof membrane — a sealed layer rather than a surface coating, so it does not wash off with wear and keeps feet dry without trapping heat.

Can the 12255 be resoled?

Yes. Goodyear Flex-Welt™ construction stitches the Vibram® outsole to the upper rather than gluing it, so a cobbler can replace the sole when the lugs wear flat and you keep the upper and met guard.

How should a lace-to-toe met-guard boot fit?

Size for a snug heel and room for the toes to spread inside the steel cap, which does not stretch. Lace the instep firmly so the internal met guard sits flat over the top of the foot, and use the lace-to-toe eyelets to relieve pressure across the forefoot as your feet swell through a shift.

What is the difference between the Banksman 12255 and the Klondike CV12000?

Both are USA-made 10" GORE-TEX® steel-toe met-guard boots with puncture-resistant protection on a resoleable welt. The Banksman is the three-season boot with a steel Mt75 guard and Kevlar® stitching; the Klondike adds 200g Thinsulate™, a D3O™ guard, and reflective strips for cold, wet, low-light work.

5.5
