Built inside the boot over the instep, it protects the metatarsal bones without the bulk or squat-and-kneel discomfort of a hinged external plate.

Can the MT716 be resoled?

Yes. Goodyear welt construction stitches the outsole to the upper rather than gluing it, so a cobbler can replace the sole as it wears and you keep the upper and met guard.

Why a 16" boot?

Coverage. Sixteen inches keeps muck, standing water, and debris out where a shorter boot would flood, and supports the calf on broken ground — the height mining and utility crews specify for deep, wet work. Tall socks help while the shaft softens around the calf.

How should a tall lace-up met-guard boot fit?

Size for a snug heel and room for the toes to spread inside the steel cap, which does not stretch, and allow for the heavier sock you will wear with an insulated boot. Lace the instep firmly so the internal met guard sits flat over the top of the foot.
