A logger has a tall, tapered heel that digs into slopes and catches ladder rungs, an aggressive lug tread, and a stiff shank so your arch doesn't collapse when you're standing on a narrow edge. On flat concrete all day, a wedge sole is the more comfortable choice.

Can the CA9823 be resoled?

Yes. Welt construction stitches the lug outsole to the upper rather than bonding it, so a cobbler can replace it when the tread wears down. On a logger the sole almost always fails before the leather does, which makes this the feature that decides the boot's lifespan.

How long does the waterproofing last?

The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a surface coating, so it doesn't wash off. But waterproof construction requires upkeep and isn't guaranteed for the life of the boot — flex creases and abrasion are what eventually let water through.

What safety standards does the Elm CA9823 meet?

The steel toe meets ASTM F2413 I/75 C/75 for impact and compression, and the boot is EH rated for electrical hazard protection.

How does the Elm CA9823 fit?

It runs true to size — order the size you wear in athletic shoes, and choose Wide if you normally need an EE width. Steel toes fit slightly closer than composite, so size on width if you have a wide forefoot.

How do I care for the Elm logger?

Knock off dirt, wipe the leather clean, let the boot dry away from direct heat, and condition the leather every few months.
